General FAQ

I've lost my registration code. What should I do?
Send an email to register@tapperware.com. It doesn't matter what the subject or the body of the email contains, but it MUST be sent from the email address you used when you originally registered the application. Use this email address ONLY for lost registration codes. Email sent to this address is handled automatically and is NOT read by technical support. Please see the Contacts page for instructions on getting technical support for all other issues.

My registration code is not being accepted. What should I do?
Your registration code is based on the HotSync User Name of your handheld that you entered at the time of purchase. If you entered it incorrectly, the registration code that was sent to you will not work. In this case, send an email to support@tapperware.com. Make sure to include in the email the EXACT HotSync User Name of your handheld, as shown in the error message you received. Please note that HotSync User Names are case-sensitive (i.e., "Joe", "joe", and "JOE" are all considered different).

I placed an order but have not received a registration code. What should I do?
Your registration code is emailed to you as soon as we receive an order notification for your order from one of our resellers. In most cases, you will have your registration code within one business day. If a complete business day has passed since you placed your order, please send an email to support@tapperware.com and make sure to include the following:

If you do not receive a reply, something might be preventing our emails from reaching you. Please click here to read about how to resolve these problems.

I've received a registration code. What do I do with it?
Download and install the trial version of the application. Then run the application on your handheld, select "Register" from the menu, and enter your registration code. Enter the entire registration code, including leading zeros, if any. This will convert the trial version into the registered version. Make sure to save your registration code in case you ever need it (e.g., because your batteries run out of power).

I've don't receive any replies to email I've sent to Tapperware. Why don't you reply?
We are definitely not ignoring you, and do our utmost to reply to email as quickly as possible. If it's been 2 business days (please do give us that long) and you've received no reply, we've probably tried to send you email but it didn't get through to you. This might happen because:

Please note that in all of these situations, there is nothing that we can do until the problem is resolved on your end.

Where can I buy a Palm Powered™ handheld?
Handhelds that run the Palm OSŪ are available from several manufacturers:

How can I tell what version of the Palm OSŪ I am running on my handheld?
On your handheld, tap the Applications silkscreen button (top button to the left of the graffiti area) to get to the Applications Launcher. Then tap the Menu silkscreen button (bottom button to the left of the graffiti area) to pop up the menu bar, and select "Info" from the Apps menu. Tap the "Version" selector near the bottom of the screen, and the version of the Palm OSŪ you are running will be displayed at the top of the screen.

How can I tell what version of an application I am running on my handheld?
On your handheld, run the application in question. Then tap the Menu silkscreen button (bottom button to the left of the graffiti area) to pop up the menu bar, and select "About". The version number will be displayed at the top. If the version number is followed by "R", you have the Registered version. If the version number is followed by "U", you have the Unregistered (trial) version.

How can I tell what my "HotSync User Name" is?
On your handheld, tap the Applications silkscreen button (top button to the left of the graffiti area) to get to the Applications Launcher. Find the application called "HotSync". Note that you might have to select "All" from the category selector in the top right corner, and/or scroll down using the scroll bar at the right edge of the screen. Tap on the HotSync application. Your HotSync User Name is displayed in the top right corner. Note:  HotSync User Names are case-sensitive (i.e., "A" is not the same as "a"). Therefore, if you ever need to enter a HotSync User Name, make sure to enter it exactly as it appears on this screen.

I've downloaded a .zip or .sit file. Now what do I do?
You will need an "unzipping" application to extract the files contained in the .zip or .sit file. For PC users, we recommend WinZip, which you can download for free from the WinZip website. For Macintosh users, we recommend StuffIt, which you can download for free from the StuffIt website. Once you have one of these applications installed on your computer, you can simply double-click on the .zip or .sit file. After the files have been extracted, follow the installation instructions in the ReadMe file.

Using Mac OS X, double-clicking on a .prc or .pdb file does not install it onto my handheld. What should I do?
When you installed the Palm Desktop software, it should have set up an association between files whose name ends with .prc or .pdb and the HotSync Manager application. Once that is set up, double-clicking on any .prc or .pdb file should open HotSync Manager, and add that file to the "Install Handheld Files" window. Somehow, this association has been broken on your Mac. It can be fixed by doing the following:

  1. In the Finder, select the .prc or .pdb file
  2. Go to the File menu and select "Get Info"
  3. Click on the arrow next to "Open with"
  4. Select "HotSync Manager" in the popup menu (if HotSync Manager is not in the list, select Other, navigate to the HotSync Manager application and select it)
  5. Click on the "Change All" button
Now double-clicking on any file that ends with .prc or .pdb will open HotSync Manager, and add the file to the "Install Handheld Files" window. This should always work, but if for any reason it does not, you can always:
  1. Run HotSync Manager
  2. From the HotSync menu, select Install Handheld Files
  3. Click on Add to List
  4. Navigate to the .prc or .pdb file you want to install and select it
The selected file will now appear in the "Install Handheld Files" window.

Using either method, you can now install the file onto your handheld by simply doing a HotSync.

The users manual mentions menus, but I don't see any. Where are the menus?
As in all Palm applications, you must tap the Menu silkscreen button in order to display the menu bar. Its location varies depending on the brand and model Palm OSŪ handheld that you have. Please see the users manual that came with your handheld for more information about the location of the Menu button.
