Tapperware is pleased to announce a new release of Lesson Plan, version 3. Note that your old registration code will not work for this new version. Please be sure to carefully read all of the following upgrade information.
Please note: With this upgrade, the minimum version of the Palm OSŪ required to run Lesson Plan has been changed from 2.0 to 3.0. If your handheld is running OS 2.0 (how can I tell?) you should not upgrade. Of course, you can continue to use the version of Lesson Plan you currently have. Since only the Palm Professional (released in 1997) runs OS 2.0, this should not affect many people.
Using the desktop application, you can now print a class summary report, which shows all of the lesson plans you have created for a given class. This is a great way to review what you've done this year and prepare for next year!
DIA support, to show or hide the Graffiti input area, has been enhanced to include not only Sony OS 4 devices (NR70) and Sony OS 5 portrait mode devices (NX60), but also PalmOne devices (Tungsten T3) and Sony OS 5 landscape mode devices (UX50). It will work for all future devices that implement DIA. Lesson Plan takes advantage of the extra space to display more information so you spend less time scrolling to find the data you need.
There is a new option in Lesson Plan Desktop which controls whether or not page breaks are inserted after each day or week.
Lesson Plans and Day Notes can now be up to 10k in size. For those teachers who like to write detailed lesson plans, no more worrying about running out of room!
If you're using a keyboard to enter your lesson plans, you can just press the Enter key instead of having to tap on the Done button. This lets you get your work done faster, because you don't have to keep picking up your stylus.
The option to display period numbers or start-times now also affects the Edit Lesson Plan and Schedule screens.
The class summary screen has been speeded up, making it much easier to use.
For detailed information, please see the updated users manual.
An email regarding this upgrade will be sent to all registered users of Lesson Plan at the email address we have in our records. If you need to update your email address, please send an email to support@tapperware.com.

Before you upgrade, as a precaution, you should make a backup copy of your Palm database files. For each Lesson Plan database you have, you'll need to find two of them. For example, if your Lesson Plan database is called "Lesson Plan 2004", the two files will be called:
The easiest way to find these files is to use your desktop computer's Find or Search function to look for files whose names contain twLP.pdb. For each lesson plan database you have, find these two files and simply make a copy of them to another directory. We strongly recommend that you make backups on a weekly basis.
Once you've made your backups, you are ready to upgrade by following these steps:
You should NOT delete the old version from your handheld before installing the new one.
The new version has an improved desktop application. The old desktop application will NOT work correctly with the new version of Lesson Plan. To upgrade to the new version of Lesson Plan Desktop, please do the following:
