Lesson Plans
A lesson plan can be any text up to 10k in size. Every period
of every day has its own lesson plan, even "open" periods during which
you do not teach a class, such as study hall or lunch.
Easy Setup
Lesson Plan provides screens that make it easy to set up. You
can enter information specifying the days on which you teach, the periods at
your school, and your class schedule simply by tapping and selecting. You only
need to use Graffiti® to enter a list of the classes that you teach, and each
class name only has to be entered once.
Easy Navigation
You can switch to another day in the current week in a single
tap. You can also switch to the previous or next week in one tap. Lesson Plan
lets you jump to any date by simply tapping on a calendar. You can also switch
to the previous or next school day by writing a space or backspace in the Graffiti®
area. When editing a lesson plan, you can switch to the previous or next period in
one tap.
A single tap can also take you to the previous or next time the current class
meets. If your handheld has a Jog Dial™, you can use it to scroll through the
days of the week, the periods in a day, or the text of a long lesson plan.
Templates
To save time when editing your lesson plans, you can save
text as templates. Templates can then be quickly inserted into your lesson
plans, letting you get your work done faster!
Find Function
Using the built-in Find function, you can quickly locate all lesson plans that contain a keyword.
For example, you could search for the word "quiz" to easily find all
the class sessions during which you are planning to give a quiz.
Day Notes
You can attach a note up to 10k in size to any day. This
feature can be used to indicate days on which there are no classes (e.g., if
you're going on a field trip), to store reminders (e.g., "remember to bring
the arts and crafts supplies box to school today!"), or for any other
purpose.
Printing Lesson Plans
You can print reports of your lesson plans in a daily or
weekly format. These reports are simple HTML files, and can be viewed or printed
using your favorite browser application (e.g., Internet Explorer, Netscape,
etc.) Reports include both your lesson plans and day notes. If you
have PalmPrint
installed on your handheld, you can also print a report directly from your
handheld to any IR-enabled
printer. The desktop application also allows you to print a class
summary, which lists all of the lesson plans for a given class.
Emailing Lesson Plans
Since reports created by Lesson Plan Desktop are HTML files,
they can also be sent via email to anyone who needs them, such as a
substitute-teacher, school principal, or other administrator.
Flexibility
Lesson Plan lets you control how your day is displayed. For
each period, you can display the start-time or the period number. You can also
choose to display the class name, lesson plan, or both.
Multiple Databases
Lesson Plan lets you start a new database for each quarter, semester, or year,
whatever is most useful to you.
